[n] - noun, [v] - verb, [phv] - phrasal verb, [adj] - adjective, [exp] - expression
This activity is designed to improve sentence accuracy and complexity. Most students can produce the key content words in a sentence. However, they have difficulty with accuracy because the functional words are difficult or can seem unimportant. This activity will help learners eliminate problems with these functional words by giving them immediate feedback on the mistakes they are making. It will also help students develop their use of more natural, varied and complex sentence structures.
TIP: Say the sentence out loud. Notice the types of mistake you make often. Focus on those types of errors. (singular/plural, subject-verb agreement, article use, prepositions, gerunds and infinitives, noun clauses, adjective clauses, word order, and word forms.)

Listen & Repeat
This activity has two purposes.
The first purpose is to improve listening accuracy. Learners can often understand the general meaning of a video but still not hear and understand many of the words that are said. This is because native speakers tend to say the functional words unclearly. (eg. don’t know, going to, want to, can’t, must have) This activity is designed to help learners improve their ability to hear these words.
TIP: Learners should listen, and then try to repeat exactly what they hear. Then they should click “Show” and read the sentence. After reading the sentence, learners should listen again and try to hear each word.
The second purpose is to improve pronunciation.
TIP: Learners should listen to and read the sentences at the same time. Then learners should try to copy the pronunciation and intonation of the speaker exactly.
TIP: Exaggerating the intonation and feeling of the speaker is useful. It may feel awkward or funny, but it will help you sound more natural.
Escuchar y Repetir

When do you leave? The morning?
I know, but when are you done?
When are you finished with the whole tour?
After we finish, we're going to go record, and then we go back on tour.
You know, we tour so we can make the record so we can go back and tour the record.
What do you mean "the long haul"?
I could be on tour with this for a couple of years, at least. Just this record.
I don't know what-what it matters.
Because if you're going to give up your dream, I think it matters that you like what you're playing.
I just didn't think that you did.
Of course I wanted you to have a steady job, so that you could take care of yourself and your life, and you could start your club.
You said yourself no one wants to go to that club.
No one wants to go to a club called Chicken on a Stick.
And now all of a sudden if you had these problems, I wish you would have said them earlier.
Maybe you just liked me when I was on my ass because it made you feel better about yourself.
Directions: With a partner or in a group, listen to the conversation and then try to act out the situation. Focus on intonation, stress, and rhythm.
Instrucciones: Con un compañero o en grupo, escucha la conversación y trata de representar la situación.
지시 사항 : 파트너와 함께 또는 그룹으로 대화를 듣고 상황을 연기해봅시다. 억양, 강세, 리듬에 집중하세요.
Seb: I thought... surprise.
Seb: I gotta leave first thing in the morning, but I just... I had to see you.
Seb: It's so nice to be home.
Mia: I'm so glad you're home. When do you leave? In the morning?
Seb: Yeah. 6:45. Boise.
Mia: To Boise!
Mia: I know, but when are you done?
Seb: What do you mean? I mean...
Mia: When are you finished with the whole tour?
Seb: But after we finish, we're going to go record, and then we go back on tour. You know, we tour so we can make the record so we can go back and tour the record.
Mia: So it's like the long haul?
Seb: What do you mean "the long haul"?
Mia: I mean the long haul like you're ggoing to stay in this band for a long time.
Seb: Yeah, This is it. I mean, this could conceivably be, yeah, for I could be on tour with this for a couple of years, at least just this record.
Mia: Do you like the music you're playing?
Seb: I don't... I don't know... what-what it matters.
Mia: Well, it matters because if you're going to give up your dream, I think it matters that you like what you're playing on the road for years.
Seb: Do you like the music I'm playing?
Mia: Yeah. I do. I just didn't think that you did.
Seb: Yeah, well...
Mia: You always said Keith is the worst and now you're going to be on tour with him for years, so I just didn't know…
Seb: What are you doing right now?
Mia: So I just didn't know if you were happy.
Seb: Why are you doing this?
Mia: What do you mean why am I doing this...?
Seb: I thought you wanted me to do this and it just sounds like now you don't want me to do it.
Mia: What do you mean I wanted you to do this?
Seb: This is what you wanted for me.
Mia: To be in this band?
Seb: To be in a band. To have a steady job, you know? To-To-To be... You know.
Mia: Of course I wanted you to have a steady job, so that you could take care of yourself and your life and you could start your club.
Seb: Yes, so I'm doing that, so I don't understand, well, why aren't we celebrating?
Mia: Why aren't you starting your club?
Seb: You said yourself no one wants to go to that club. No one wants to go to a club called "Chicken on a Stick".
Mia: So change the name!
Seb: Well, no one likes jazz! Not even you!
Mia: I do like jazz now because of you!
Seb: And this is what I thought you wanted me to do! Well, whatever, alright? I mean, it is just it's time to grow up, you know? I have a steady job, this is what I'm doing. And now all of a sudden if you had these problems, I wish you would've said them earlier before I signed on the goddamn dotted line!
Mia: I'm pointing out that you had a dream that you followed, that you were sticking to...
Seb: This is the dream! This is the dream.
Mia: This is not your dream!
Seb: Guys like me work their whole lives to be in something that's successful, that people like, you know? I mean, I'm finally in something that-that-that-that-that-that people enjoy.
Mia: Since when do you care about being liked? Why do you care so much about being liked?
Seb: Just 'cause I don't enjoy it, it doesn't matter.
Seb: You are an actress! What are you talking about?! Maybe you just liked me when I was on my ass 'cause it made you feel better about yourself.
Mia: Are you kidding?
