Did you really think my highly trained olfactory sense wouldn't pick up on the faint whiff of Neroli and Bergamot in your favorite hand lotion?

I could do this all day.

Mother and Father sent you to spy on me, didn't they?

The fact that they thought I wouldn't find out just proves how much they underestimate me.

They're evil puppeteers who want to pull my strings, even from afar.

The way I see it, you have two options.

Option one, I lock you in here for the rest of the semester.

And you go slowly insane trying to claw your way out.

And we both know how vain you are.

Option two, you pledge your undying loyalty to me.

Our first order of business is to escape this teenage purgatory.

1. What is Thing? (Pretend you are explaining Thing to someone who has never seen Wednesday.) Is he cool? Disgusting? Is he more like a friend, family member, servant, or pet to Wednesday?
2. How does Thing communicate with Wednesday? Can you understand him as well?
3. Would you like to have Thing as a friend? (a pet?) How could he be helpful or useful in your life?
4. Wednesday calls Nevermore a teenage purgatory. What does she mean? Why do you think Wednesday wants to leave Nevermore Academy?
5. If you have a teenage daughter or son, what is the best way to protect them but give them their freedom? How do you balance freedom and protection?
6. Wednesday recognizes Thing by his smell (the smell of his lotion). Can you recognize any of your friends or family by their smell? What is the smell? (Perfume? Shampoo?)
